  • Yes of course! Bring the kids! Families have a great time at the Haven. There is plenty to see and explore at the Haven and tons of family friendly activities nearby! All of our tents can accommodate up to 4 people. In addition to one queen sized bed, we can provide single cots with the added fee per person.

  • The Haven is just down the hill and a short walk from Hawi Town where one of our favorite stores, the Kohala Grown Market is located. Kohala Grown Market has all locally sourced groceries; meat, veggies, eggs, cheese, snacks and coffee. They make great sandwiches, burgers and plate lunches. They have Wai Meli Jun, Big Island Booch Kombucha and Ola Brew Beers and Ciders on tap! (Growlers TOGO!)

On Saturdays the Farmers Market at the heart of Hawi has local farmers with fresh produce, farm fresh eggs, baked goods, cheeses and lemonades, as well as fresh cut flowers!

A few miles down Akoni Pule Hwy is our larger grocery store, Takata’s. They have almost anything you could need. There are a few other mom and pop store around town as well as gas stations.

  • The weather at The Haven at Hawi Nani is generally fair and tropical from April to October. The rainy season in Hawaii is typically from November to March. Temperatures normally range between 65-85F. We get rain regularly which makes the land lush and green. We are located between the Kohala Mountain and Maui across the Alenuihaha channel so we get quite a bit of wind. Kohala is know for its wind. While it is usually pleasant and breezy, we do occasionally have gusts that can reach 45 mph.

  • Yes! North Kohala has some of the best opportunities to see whales from the coast. Humpback Whales visit the Hawaiian islands from December to May every year. These gentle giants come to our warm water to breed and give birth to new calves. Some of the best places to see these whales are at the nearby Puukohola Heiau National Historic Site, Lapakahi State Historical Park and Kapa'a Beach Park.
